Eminence on a Budget

Deir El Kamar has a one of a kind holy aura, especially around the site.
This project highlights those spiritual moods and historical essences tries to upgrade the upkeep of ephemeral living. Not to interfere with the typology of the Lebanese arches and stone buildings, the theme was challenging to design on a budget. They’re built with hard stone, which opposes with the need of a temporary structure. Designing an elevation to not intrude the mountain, to appear as ancient ruins from afar, was key to trick through texture.

Desired Texture is stone alignment, which could be imitated using shipping containers and rusted steel bars to trick a certain pattern of cuttings. The walls play a great part in heating up the indoors on such a chilly site, and the steel bars can seat vines that hide sun exposure during summer.
